Symbian Tips: Use Bluetooth Headphones to Enjoy Your Music on S60 Phones

January 13th, 2009 No Comments   Posted in Symbian Tips

Here’s something interesting Symbian Tips that I found when I use my Bluetooth headphone.

Today I got an Nokia BH-320. Then I wondered if I could use it to listen to some music on my N78. An “Earphone Sign” did appear on my phone but when I started the player the phone disconnected BH-320 and the music went our through the speakers. But if you reconnected BH-320 at this time you will hear your music through BH-320.

You certainly can’t appreciated the sound quality. And one thing bothers me most is that the phone will disconnect BH-320 every time when a new song starts.

Symbian Software: New Skyfire Beta Version for Symbian Phones

December 7th, 2008 No Comments   Posted in Symbian Tips

New Symbian Software is here!

The new version has came out a fairly long time ago,but I didn’t give it a try just yesterday.

Their site has changed, new layouts and they don’t offer direct download link right now. And it’s frustrating for me to download it on my N78, 2MB,it would surely cost me much. So I got a workaround. ^^ Here’s the direct download link: http://get.skyfire.com/pub/tmp/Skyfire_Symbian_8000-S60.sis

It is supposed to run on Symbian 9.0+ platforms.

The new version got new looks. But I personnal think this version is no good thah the old one. It loads much more slower that the first one. But it do bring some good news. No PIPS problem this time.

Symian Tips: How to Hack the Nokia N95,N78 to install unsigned S60 applications

October 7th, 2008 No Comments   Posted in Symbian Tips, Web Design Tutorials

Today’s Symbian Tips is about “Hack”!

One of the most annoying things about Symbian S60 is the need to have every application that you wish to install signed by a valid Symbian Signed certificate.

With so many great freeware applications available for S60, with most of them unsigned it is great to know that, if you are game enough, you can hack your handset to allow the installation of unsigned applications.

WARNING: IF DONE INCORRECTLY THIS CAN DESTROY YOUR HANDSET! MAKE SURE YOU DO A FULL BACKUP PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING THIS HACK. DECODER TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE OUTCOME SHOULD YOU ATTEMPT THIS HACK.THE BELOW S60 HACKING TUTORIAL IS A COMBINATION OF A NUMBER OF S60 HACKING RESOURCES. BEFORE YOU COMMENCE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOOGLING THIS SUBJECT AND DOING YOUR DUE DILIGANCE RESEARCH FIRST.

I have successfully used and tested this hack on my Nokia N95 with the latest firmware v30.0.015.

So without further ado. Here is how you hack your Nokia S60 device.

1. Download and install Y-Browser.

2. Download the S60 Hack Pack.

3. Copy installserver.exe & CProfDriver_SISX.ldd to your handsets Memory Card

4. Install HelloCarbide. Don’t open it yet. If one version doesn’t install for you try the other one.

6. Open Y-Explorer, DONT CLOSE IT, hit your Menu key to leave it running in the background and;

7. Open HelloCarbide, select Options -> Menu1. You should get a message saying “done… probably”. Select ‘Yes’.

8. Hold the Menu Key to open the S60 Task manager and open your file browser from the background. Navigate to where you saved installserver.exe (e:\), copy it and then paste it into C:\sys\bin

9. Copy CProfDriver_SISX.ldd from memory card into C:\sys\bin

10. Restart your phone and install Caps On and Caps Off.

Now you’ll have access to system directories whenever you select the application “Caps Off”. To turn off system file access, open the application “Caps On”.

You should also now have the ability to install unsigned applications on your S60 handset.

Symbian Tips:Use X-Plore to Copy Files

September 12th, 2008 No Comments   Posted in Symbian Tips

Lance found another Symbian Tip,it’s about copying files.

If you use X-Plore, you’ll find it is an amazing software on Symbian.

But when I tried to copy files from on folder to another sub folder. I was stuck.

If  you press fire bottom at the parent folder of your target folder (basically you have to choose that folder in order to navigate to the sub folder), you’ll find that you files will be copied to the parent folder, not the sub folder.

The right thing to do is  to press right bottom on the parent folder, then the directly tree expanes, the press fire bottom on the sub folder. Then it’s done!

Symbian Tips: Backup your Ngage Game Data

September 12th, 2008 No Comments   Posted in Symbian Tips

Lance found another Symbian Tips.

When I was playing Ngage Games a few days. Ngage crashed, I tried everything but it didn’t pan out. So I decided to reinstall Ngage. But what about all my game data, my level, my exp?

Then I found Nages store all the game data under the directory C:/private/20007b39. You need to hack your system in order access this folder. Copy all the conent in this folder and backup it. You could use X-Plore or ActiveFile to do this.

After you reinstall Ngages, copy your backup backto that folder. And it’s done. Continue enjoy your Ngage Games!
